Start dictating

Open Espicar from the Mac menu bar. In Settings, choose Local or Cloud and review your dictation shortcut. Grant microphone access and the macOS permissions requested for inserting text into other apps.

With Local, install the transcription model and wait for it to finish preparing. With Cloud, sign in and check that Cloud time is available. Place the cursor in the destination app, use the dictation shortcut and speak. Stop the recording to transcribe and insert the text.

Rewrite and review

Select text in another app and use Transform Selection, then give the instruction you want applied. This feature uses Cloud. Check the result before using it. Open Recent to return to a previous transcription. Add frequently used names and terms to the Personal Dictionary in Settings.

Troubleshooting

If recording does not start, check the input device, microphone permission and shortcut. If text does not appear, place the cursor in an editable field and check Espicar’s accessibility permissions in macOS Settings. For Local, confirm the model is ready. For Cloud, check the connection, account and available time. Do not assume an unsuccessful paste means your recording needs to be repeated; check Recent first.
