Support

LiveCap 2.1 · Reviewed September 30, 2026.

Getting started

  1. Allow Microphone and Speech Recognition access when asked.
  2. Choose the language being spoken.
  3. Tap the red button to start listening. Read the captions as the other person speaks; tap again to stop.

Reading and translation

Spread two fingers on the text to enlarge it; pinch to reduce it. Scroll up to reread the current conversation. Scroll back to the bottom to follow new text again.

On iOS 18 or later, stop listening before choosing translation and selecting the source and target languages. Wait for language preparation to finish, then tap the red button. Language availability depends on the device and OS; language resources may need downloading.

Changing the language or mode clears the current text. LiveCap does not provide a saved conversation library.

Troubleshooting

If listening cannot start, check Microphone and Speech Recognition permissions in iPhone Settings. Check the selected spoken language and move the phone closer to the speaker. Some speech languages need an internet connection.

If translation is preparing, allow language resources to finish downloading. If an error appears, use the retry action. After a call, audio interruption or returning from the background, start listening again yourself.

Your data and permissions

Microphone access supplies audio for captions and sound recognition. Speech recognition uses Apple services and can run on-device when supported. Read the privacy policy for details. You can revoke permissions in iPhone Settings.
